Unimer supplier luncheon
Record numbers of Unimer suppliers get together for annual event(10 November 2008) Unimer plc, UK's leading invoice clearing house for the building products industry, recently hosted the annual key - Unimer Supplier Luncheon - for a record number of suppliers.
Almost 70 supplier companies were represented at the Unimer's key event for suppliers - the Annual Supplier Luncheon - where they mingled with the Unimer Board of Directors and other representatives from both the heavyside and lightside industry.
Howard Grant, Managing Director of Unimer, says: "This unique event is probably the only event during the year when senior supplier representatives can meet and network with their peers in the industry in a relaxed and informal atmosphere without having their customers there".
The Unimer Supplier Luncheon was held at the prestigious and historical Café Royal in Central London, where Unimer has been hosting events since the inception of Unimer. Sadly, Café Royal is closing at the end of the year, and Unimer will be looking for a new venue. So this was the ‘Last Supper' - at least at Café Royal!
Alan Hampton, Chairman of the Board of Unimer, who spoke eloquently at the luncheon made some references to the current economic climate, but hoped that this time the downturn will be significantly shorter than during the late 80's and early 90's.
He continued on a positive note and reported that Unimer has accepted over 46 new members during the last 12 months, which have generated over £7M worth of new business. Perhaps not huge in view of the size of the Unimer business, but still significant and positive.
This was good news to all Unimer suppliers present as these new members (a number are relatively small and recently established) are expected to be more proactive and able to obtain more business in today's market environment than perhaps the more established merchants businesses.
Alan continued emphasising the support Unimer offers all suppliers and stressed the comfort of immediate credit insurance and guaranteed payment available from Unimer. He finished his speech thanking all present for attending with the hope that ‘together we can all come through these difficult trading times'.
Howard Grant, Managing Director of Unimer said after the event: "I was delighted to see that so many suppliers had taken the time to join us at the annual Supplier Luncheon. It is encouraging to see the support from our supplier and we will do our utmost to support them and offer them further added-value services in the year to come."
