Merchant Membership
Membership of the co-operative may be sought from merchants and retailers of building, heating, plumbing, roofing, decorating and hardware materials, kitchens and bathrooms, etc., who can demonstrate a successful mix of both trade customers and end-consumers.
The essential criteria for a successful application to membership are:-
- Supplying building materials and other associated products to both trade and an end-user base;
- turning over £1M+;
- capital employed of at least £50K;
- ability to demonstrate a profitable operation by submitting two years' accounts *);
- ability to demonstrate an infrastructure for efficient purchase, control and accountability.

On being able to demonstrate this criteria, the applicant will be invited to apply for membership, which will be achieved by the purchase and issue of 2000 shares of nominal value £0.25p at a total current cost of £1,250.
There is no subsequent annual membership fee or administration charge.

Supplier Membership
Suppliers wishing to trade via Unimer are expected to have a clear strategy for trading with the merchant sector, and the infrastructure and resources to service Unimer members adequately. All potential new suppliers are considered on their merits, in light of Unimer's existing members and supplier base, and the needs of the business. Suppliers wishing to join Unimer, are required to pay an annual supplier membership fee, which includes the cost of the suppliers' entry in the on-line and hard-copy versions of the Unimer Buyers Guide. Full details of the annual membership fee is available from Unimer's Administration Department or from Robin Beal, Trading Director.
